What is the SideRigger?

SideRigger helps you catch more fish. SideRigger is a 7'6" telescoping retractable boom, which increases your transom spread and avoids tangles by placing the line close to the surface of the water. Two SideRiggers will allow any boat to troll 2 more lines. SideRigger's hardware is 306-marine grade polished stainless steel.

When extended at zero degrees, SideRigger places the line the same distance away from the boat as a fifteen-foot outrigger would place a line; except, SideRigger sets the line closer to the surface of the water, therefore avoiding tangles.

SideRigger's boom positively locks on either side at -20, -10, 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 & 90-degree settings, so the angle may be determined by the fisherman, allowing him to achieve the best bait placement and trolling spread.

SideRigger fits in standard, 30-degree, 1 ½ inch-diameter, metal rod holders (don't use in plastic rod holders). When in a rod holder, SideRigger's base will rotate and adjust to any angle, so it can be used on port or starboard side.

SideRigger may be used in rod holders, T-top or rocket launchers. It can be stowed above, allowing rapid clearing of cockpit. SideRigger's placement adjustments require no tools, so adjustments can be easily made while fishing. Even with "slimy fish hands."

SideRigger has two built-in rod holders, with neoprene foam rod butt protectors.

Why you need The SideRigger

SideRigger greatly increases your chances of catching fish. SideRigger is a must for slow trolling (keeping the baits in the prop wash and chum slick) and high speed trolling (keeping the baits close to the surface at high speeds), and when live bait fishing and chunking (by placing a line 7'6" out off the side of your boat). SideRigger can be used on any boat, and is guaranteed for life.

How Fisherman are Using the SideRigger

Slow Trolling for King Mackerel By setting the telescoping pole at 0 or 10 degrees, this places the bait off to the side 7' 6", and keeps the line close to the water. This prevents the line from being blown in the wind and decreases tangles. Tournament fishermen have placed Menhaden oil drip tubes at the end of the telescoping pole which creates an oil slick that does not mix with gas exhaust. The Menhaden oil entices the kings to strike the bait on the SideRigger.

Offshore Trolling By adding two SideRiggers to any boat you can troll two more lines. Bait placement and bait depth can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the angle of the telescoping pole. Also the SideRigger can be positioned close to the stern or amidship to improve the bait placement. The SideRigger can be used in conjunction with outriggers, downriggers or by themselves.

High Speed Trolling By setting the telescoping pole at -10 or 0 degrees the line is close to the surface, not up in the air 15 feet as with outriggers. The lure does not have to be placed so far back with the Sidergger. More importantly, the lure is off to the side of the prop wash in clean water where it can be clearly viewed from underneath.

Chunking By setting the telescoping pole at 10, 0, -10 or -20, degrees you can spread your lines apart and adjust bait placement. This helps prevent crossed lines prior to the strike and when the strike happens. In addition, the angler has two more lines in their chunking drift.

Pitching Baits By varying the setting on the telescoping pole, the pole is kept just above the surface. The angle placement of the SideRiggers on either side of the boat can prevent the baits from getting tangled. By using a 5 foot leader on your live bait with the Siderigger the bait is kept in the strike zone allowing the angler more free time.

Trolling for Stripers Striper fisherman have the need to get the line out and low to the water. The SideRigger accomplishes this as well as increasing the trolling spread.
